Whether it was historic flooding, powerful earthquakes or unstoppable wildfires, natural disasters in 2016 set the stage for many impactful and memorable photos. 

Before striking the U.S. with heavy flooding, Hurricane Matthew left a path of destruction in the Caribbean. Scorching temperatures, high winds and the ongoing drought led to destructive wildfires in California. Powerful earthquakes shook parts of Italy and another caused major landslides in Japan. Typhoons wreaked havoc in the Philippines
