We’re tracking PS5 restock from 12 different major retailers in the US, and while we don’t have definitive date and time for the next PS5 drop, we can see a pattern. Last week, we saw PS5 restocks four times: Amazon on Tuesday, Sony Direct on Wednesday, Antonline and Best Buy both on Friday.

That’s four times you could have bought the PS5, and we instantly tweeted about the restocks all four times. As you’ll see below, many people walked away with the console.

The best retailers for PS5 restock in the US

We’re tracking PS5 inventory at trusted US retailers – if you see something that’s too good to be true it probably is. Don’t get duped. We’re looking at the official Sony Direct store, GameStop, Walmart, Target and Best Buy among a few others. There are 12 different stores, and all of them are selling the PS5 at its normal MSRP. No relying on PS5 scalpers and unknown resellers.

GameStop PS5 advantage: This storied US retailer sells PS5 bundles at a slightly higher price (but still face value for everything). All those resellers trying to turn a profit have to sell easy-to-buy games at full price. That’s a much harder resell opportunity for them – and a benefit to actual gamers.

Amazon PS5 restock time: We have seen Amazon sell PS5 randomly at all sorts of times, but more often than not it’s at 3am EST / 12am PST. That’s a very specific PS5 restock time in line with when Amazon always launches its fresh everyday deals. No, there’s no discount on the console, but it does get lumped into their page refresh.

Sony Direct PS5 ground rules: Remember, whenever the PS5 restock in the US happens from Sony (usually Tuesday to Friday, typically in the afternoons to early evenings), it’ll send you into a virtual queue and it’s choosing people at random to buy the much-sought-after video game console. You’re not guaranteed to get one.

As we always warn, getting into the Sony Direct queue doesn’t mean you’ll find the console in stock. Most people will see “more than an hour wait” from the estimated wait time. That’s what the message reads for us. For others, they’ll see a queue of just a few minutes.

Here are more rules, according to Sony:

• First, you will need an active PSN account in order to complete the purchase. 
• Second, you will have 10 minutes to buy the PS5. 
• Third, “PS5 Consoles are now available but are not guaranteed even if you are in the queue,” according to Sony.a

Trust us, it’s serious about buying the PS5 within ten minutes. Make sure you have all of your information ready to go to buy PS5.
