Life is frequently a game of numbers. Stocks, statistics, projections and data points rule our every decision, from the apps we download to the hot items on our holiday shopping lists.

Most of these numbers are in some way, shape or form directly related to money. And therefore, year-by-year spending habits are often a litmus test for a whole slew of cultural and generational priorities. In essence, what we spend our hard-earned money on says a lot about who we are.
