“What do we do if we don’t have hope, Oprah?”

First Lady Michelle Obama got real about what it’s like to be facing Donald Trump’s America during an interview with Oprah Winfrey this week, a clip of which aired on CBS on Friday.

While hope was the message of her husband’s presidential campaigns, and entire presidential terms really, it was a bitter topic for FLOTUS in the interview. In the days and weeks since the historic presidential victory, she said, things have just been different.

“We feel the difference now. See, now, we are feeling what not having hope feels like,” she told Winfrey. “Hope is necessary. It’s a necessary concept and Barack didn’t just talk about hope because he thought it was just a nice slogan to get votes.” Read more…
