Vivo TWS Neo Review Image credit: Vivo

True wireless earbuds have become a valuable accessory for smartphone users and is amongst the highest selling wearable devices. While many brands have come up with their new TWS offerings,Vivo has joined the journey with their recently announced TWS Neo. The new device debuted alongside X50 series of smartphones in India and unlike the fresh breed that has cropped up overnight, these new TWS not only promise a lot, but deliver on them as well.
The company should be applauded for relying on the tried and trusted formula of offering a product with premium design and material coupled with superlative audio performance rather than just coming out with yet another run of the mill TWS earbuds.
Vivo TWS Neo earbuds design and specifications
The Vivo Neo earbuds come packed in a pebble-shaped stylish charging case and are available in two exciting colours – Starry Blue and Moonlight White to choose from. The Starry Blue is our favourite as it makes the case look different and premium, making it stand out among the plethora of buds available in the market. The case comes in a premium plastic build and even though we’re not venturing out of the house much, it can be easily slipped into the jeans pocket whenever you plan to step out.
Talking about stepping out, you can wear these buds with a second thought during your workout sessions both indoor and outdoor as the buds come with a IP54 certified for does and swear resistance, making them your perfect workout partner. Wear detection present on these buds makes them smart and takes the experience a few notches higher as the music playing on the paired smartphone gets paused the moment you take the buds out of the ear and resumes when they’re worn again.
Since the Vivo buds Neo come with a half-in-ear design they are really comfortable and due to the light weight build, you’ll hardly realise them being present there. The stem design helps house the microphone closer to the mouth, hence, your voice during calls is crisp and clear. Further to improve your calling experience, these earbuds from Vivo come with AI noise cancelling that cancels out external noise to offer you an exceptional calling experience.
The Vivo TWS Neo is equipped with a large 14.2mm driver that is further supported by a bio-fiber composite diaphragm and a pure copper voice coil from Daikoku (Japan) that helps it produce perfectly balanced audio output. These finely tuned earbuds offer fairly accurate High, Mids and lows making your music listening experience a real treat.
Furthermore, the Vivo TWS Neo comes coupled with Qualcomm’s proprietary aptX technology that preserves 1.5x sound data resulting in extremely high-quality CD-like audio output, a feature that is missing from most earbuds is this price range. Vivo had stated that its engineers had put in years of efforts in research and development of these earbuds and the result can be noticed as the buds offer audio quality that sounds right with super clear vocals, deep bass, and bright treble.
The TWS Neo further comes with the Qualcomm QCC3046 chipset which brings in support for Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity and also gets Qualcomm True Wireless Mirroring technology and quick pairing as well. So if you’re using one of the Vivo’s premium smartphones, you’ll have an added advantage as these buds not only pair or connect with Vivo devices slightly faster but also provide you with an option to personalise your TWS experience by customizing touch gestures like Slide Control, Google Assistance and Find My TWS Neo where it remembers the device’s last location and beeps via the phone once it is in range.
DeepX stereo sound solution, which is a result of Vivo’s research and development efforts can be experienced on these earbuds if paired with some of the latest flagship Vivo smartphones like Vivo X50 or X50 Pro. Other key features include 88ms low latency performance which gamers would really prefer since these buds as they offer almost zero lag transmission between action and audio making gaming sessions more enjoyable than any other device. Connectivity and audio reception is great even in crowded areas.
Vivo Neo TWS battery
Battery backup on a TWS is probably the next most important feature after the audio quality and the Vivo New TWS does not disappoint. While using these buds you can get up to 4.5 hours of non-stop superlative audio experience. It can be further extended with the help of the charging case that can offer you multiple charging cycles on the go, offering a total backup of over 22.5 hours easily.
The charging case comes with a USB Type C connectivity port and has a fast charging solution that helps juice the built-in battery pack quickly.
The verdict
Having experienced the Vivo Neo TWS for some time, we could not believe that it is Vivo’s maiden entry into the truly wireless earbuds’ ecosystem. The effort that the company has put in to produce a neat pair of earbuds in their first attempt is also commendable. By mastering the basics like design, crisp and high-quality audio performance, superlative battery performance, these buds throw the punch above their weight.
While audiophiles will love the balanced audio profiles and crystal-clear audio output, gamers would love the intuitive touch control and near minimal latency that can help them enjoy their chicken dinners even more. For a regular user, it’s the amazing call quality and the premium design that wins the round. All in all, these are the perfect all-rounder of buds that are too difficult to resist.
The Vivo TWS Neo is definitely amongst the best if not the best TWS available in the market in this price range. They are available for INR 5,990 from all major retail stores and popular eCommerce platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, Vivo’s own E-store, PayTM Mall, Tata CLIQ and other major e-commerce websites.
