Even a movie as full and rich as Rogue One can’t tell you the full story. It ties up loose ends more than most Star Wars films — but it doesn’t answer everything.
There’s just too much going on in the tale of the Rebel spies who stole the Death Star plans to explain it all in the economic language of the cinema; you certainly don’t get to learn everything inside the characters’ heads.
Luckily, there’s the novelization of the movie, written by Alexander Freed. It contains a whole bunch of extra and expanded scenes, and is told from the perspective of just about every major character in the movie (yes, even the droid K-2SO). Read more…
